Personnel Consulting Day 2025 – Impulses for the Future of HR Consulting

On June 3, 2025, Dr. Peter Dienst, Managing Partner of IT-Personalberatung Dr. Dienst & Wenzel GmbH & Co. KG, had the opportunity to participate in the BDU Personnel Consulting Day 2025.

Under the motto “HR Consulting 2030 – Game Over or Next Level?”, the event offered exciting insights and impulses that opened up new perspectives for our industry, especially in times of digital transformation. The event took place in the impressive SPARK venue in Frankfurt – a location that, with its view over the city, perfectly reflected the innovation and dynamism of the event.

Overview of Topics:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Automation:
Discussion on how modern technologies are radically changing the market and what new opportunities are emerging for HR consultants.
Key insights: Today, it is possible to build AI agents that support process steps – even combining multiple AI agents to provide increasingly complex support across processes.
  • Future Business Models:
Weighing the approaches of established companies against the innovative strategies of newcomers, including considerations on disruptive versus proven business models.
Main takeaway: In classic executive search, AI has brought little change. However, the lower segment of basic recruitment could potentially be replaced by AI in the future.
  • High-Potential Recruiting:
Strategies and methods for identifying and successfully attracting top talent in the market – a topic of particular relevance in IT recruiting.
Insight: This continues to require (now and in the future) a high degree of experience, empathy, and trustworthy relationships – and less AI.

Speakers:

  • Dr. Klaus-Ulrich Moeller:
As a future analyst, he examined the impact of algorithms and artificial intelligence on our market – a topic that has long been central in industry discussions.
In short: AI is rapidly providing new tools – from basic AI prompting to AI agents, reasoning AI, and inventive AI. These tools are spawning new players. Activities and processes need to be redefined, though humans will remain the users of the tools rather than being replaced by them.
  • Prof. Dr. Michael Groß:
Spoke about the challenges and opportunities of digitalization in HR consulting and presented practical approaches for successfully managing disruptive market changes.
Takeaway: AI tools cannot build trust and acceptance like a human being. AI can only serve as an administrative and decision-making aid – the final decision should always be made by a human.
  • Moderation by Gunnar Belden:
The Chairman of the BDU Expert Group on HR Consulting and Managing Director of Maturias Personnel Consulting guided the day and facilitated a lively exchange among participants.

The Personnel Consulting Day not only offered professional value but also an excellent opportunity for exchange and networking – starting with a relaxed barbecue dinner the evening before and continuing through to the in-depth discussion rounds during the congress.

Dr. Peter Dienst:

“As an IT personnel consultant with over 20 years of experience, I took away many new impulses that sharpen the view on future challenges and opportunities in HR consulting. My conclusion: In the future, AI will play an important role in personnel consulting. Nevertheless, humans will continue to make the final decisions – especially for high-value and business-critical positions.”
